Regulatory Status

Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act), gives the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulatory authority over Swaps markets (excluding Security based Swaps). In 2013, the CFTC implemented swap trading rules promulgated by the Act, invoking a number of practices associated with the clearing and execution of swaps trades in the U.S. and similar trades involving U.S Persons globally.  Under Title VII, it is a requirement that “Any person operating a facility that offers a trading system or platform in which more than one market participant has the ability to execute or trade swaps with more than one other market participant on the system or platform shall register the facility as a swap execution facility” and is subject to the Core Principles and other Requirements for Swap Execution Facilities.  As a result of this requirement, and to ensure continuity of our services to our client base, Compagnie Financiere Tradition formed TraditionSEF, and the CFTC granted TraditionSEF registration as a swap execution facility on January 22, 2016.

Facilitating derivative Swap transactions between counterparties is not new to Tradition.

Our Parent company, Compagnie Financière Tradition (CFT) is one of the world’s leading interdealer broking (IDB) firms, with a presence in 28 countries and approximately 2,500 employees. Our Services
