Regulatory Status

Title VII of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act (Dodd-Frank Act), gives the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) regulatory authority over Swaps markets (excluding Security based Swaps). In 2013, the CFTC implemented swap trading rules promulgated by the Act, invoking a number of practices associated with the clearing and execution of swaps trades in the U.S. and similar trades involving U.S Persons globally.  Under Title VII, it is a requirement that “Any person operating a facility that offers a trading system or platform in which more than one market participant has the ability to execute or trade swaps with more than one other market participant on the system or platform shall register the facility as a swap execution facility” and is subject to the Core Principles and other Requirements for Swap Execution Facilities.  As a result of this requirement, and to ensure continuity of our services to our client base, the Tradition group of companies formed Tradition SEF, and the CFTC granted Tradition SEF registration as a swap execution facility on January 22, 2016.

Our Services

Tradition SBSEF Overview

Tradition SBSEF is a Security-Based Swap Execution Facility registered with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, which is operated by Tradition SEF, LLC.  Tradition SEF received final SEC approval for the execution and processing of Security Based Swaps on January 29, 2025.
